In Talks With Javier Tizado Jr. – Pralar USA Inc. (TTE Transformers)

Building global competitiveness from Argentina for the U.S. energy market

In this edition of In Talks With, we spoke with Javier Tizado Jr., lawyer, Harvard graduate, businessman, and current President of Pralar USA Inc. (publicly known as “TTE Transformers”) —a company with more than 65 years in the Argentine electrical manufacturing industry. Founded in 1958 and acquired by the Tizado family in 2004, TTE specializes in the design and production of electrical transformers for industrial clients and power utilities. Today, the company is focused on international expansion, exporting nearly 100% of its production to the United States.

Javier’s professional trajectory integrates private practice, public management, and business leadership. After a decade advising companies in international business, he joined TTE in 2009, later serving in the public sector between 2015 and 2019. Returning to the company strengthened his strategic perspective: knowledge of the State and regulatory dynamics became a key advantage in navigating the industrial and export landscape.

Globally, the United States stands out as the most dynamic market for transformer manufacturing, driven by aging infrastructure, electrification, and the rapid growth of data centers and artificial intelligence. With equipment surpassing 80 years of service life, energy security and modernization efforts have accelerated demand, creating significant opportunities for agile industrial suppliers. Europe continues to expand electrification initiatives, while Latin America evolves at different speeds depending on investment cycles and regulatory environments.

Innovation is a central pillar of the company’s strategy. TTE invested over USD 30 million in the last four years to upgrade its plant, including advanced winding machines and a state-of-the-art drying oven to ensure insulation quality and reduce operational failures. “Updating technology increases productivity—just like in any other industry,” Javier notes.

People, Culture & the Value of Talent

Human capital is at the core of TTE’s identity. The company prioritizes technical excellence, training, and long-term professional development as part of its growth strategy. As Javier highlights:

“We believe that if we have the best people, we will be the best company.”

This approach drives talent recruitment from leading institutions and fosters an organizational culture focused on responsibility, specialization, and a collective vision for growth.

Environmental Responsibility & Community Commitment

Sustainability is a strategic principle for TTE Transformadores. The company promotes responsible material use, implements recycling and waste-reduction practices, and maintains an environmental management system that emphasizes internal awareness. Their contribution to wind and solar projects in Argentina and the United States reflects a practical commitment to the energy transition and long-term sector development.

Community engagement is structured around three focus areas: education, disability support, and social inclusion. Through partnerships with organizations and foundations, TTE carries out initiatives throughout the year, combining financial support with follow-up and active participation.

Working with the ATCC

Javier underscores the strategic value of the Argentina-Texas Chamber of Commerce (ATCC) in TTE’s international expansion. The Chamber serves as a bridge for Argentine companies entering or strengthening their presence in the U.S. market—particularly in Texas—by facilitating access to key stakeholders, promoting collaboration among members, and supporting companies navigating regulatory or commercial challenges. In Javier’s words, the ATCC contributes to a path of growth that is gradual yet full of opportunity for the industrial sector.

TTE Transformers stands as an example of how an Argentine industrial company can scale, innovate, and compete in the most demanding international markets. From sustained technological investment and export growth to a strong focus on people, sustainability, and community, the company’s journey reflects a long-term vision aligned with global energy trends.

Looking ahead, TTE plans to invest USD 15 million over the next three years to further expand its production capacity and modernize its electrical laboratory, while continuing to create new jobs and grow its team. In this context, the company also highlights the importance of Argentina advancing negotiations with the United States to reduce tariffs on high value-added industrial products, a step that would significantly strengthen the competitiveness of companies like TTE in international markets. With clear objectives and an increasingly global outlook, TTE moves forward with the conviction that Argentine industry can play a meaningful role on the international stage.
