In Talks With Mariano Focaraccio - Chief Product Officer (CPO) at Rombit

From data to prevention: redefining industrial safety through technology

In this edition of In Talks With, we spoke with Mariano Focaraccio, Systems Engineer, entrepreneur, and Chief Product Officer (CPO) at Rombit, a global safety technology company focused on preventing workplace accidents in high-risk industrial environments.

Mariano’s career spans technology, product, and entrepreneurship. After starting as a developer, he transitioned into product leadership and later co-founded Drixit, a Latin American safety tech company acquired by Rombit. Today, he leads product strategy and innovation at a company with more than 200 clients worldwide, operating across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, and the United States.

Digital PPE and proactive safety

Rombit develops Digital Personal Protective Equipment (Digital PPE)—wearable devices and integrated platforms that detect risks in real time and help prevent accidents before they occur. By combining IoT, data analytics, behavioral insights, and AI, the company digitalizes critical safety processes such as evacuations, panic alerts, fall detection, and restricted-area access.

A clear example is emergency evacuations. Traditionally, evacuations in large industrial sites can take hours. With Rombit’s technology, these processes are managed digitally and in real time, reducing response times from hours to minutes—often under 15 minutes—making a critical difference in high-risk situations.

Making safety measurable

One of Rombit’s key differentiators is its ability to measure risk exposure, moving beyond traditional KPIs like “days without accidents.” Instead, the company analyzes how exposed workers are to risk on a daily basis, identifying unsafe patterns and near misses before incidents occur.

“Safety is not binary,” Mariano explains. “A day without accidents doesn’t necessarily mean it was a safe day—it may simply mean there was luck.”

Innovation with operational impact

While technology evolves rapidly, successful adoption in industrial environments requires strong change management. Rombit supports clients throughout implementation to ensure that innovation integrates seamlessly into daily operations.

“It’s not about monitoring people,” he notes. “It’s about creating safer conditions for everyone.”

A global outlook and the role of ATCC

With operations across multiple regions, Rombit has adapted its solutions to different regulatory and cultural approaches to safety. Recently, the company rejoined the Argentina–Texas Chamber of Commerce (ATCC) as part of its renewed focus on the U.S. market—particularly Texas, a strategic hub for both oil & gas and logistics.

According to Mariano, the ATCC plays a key role as a bridge for Argentine companies seeking to expand internationally, supporting soft landing strategies and long-term growth.

Rombit’s journey highlights how technology, data, and purpose can come together to redefine industrial safety—proving that prevention is not only possible, but essential.
