YPF Hackathon

YPF Company

YPF, the largest company in Argentina in terms of revenues, has a rich history of over 100 years and is a leader in the energy sector. YPF is the #1 company in refining and processing oil and gas in Argentina, with three refineries across the country, one petrochemical complex, and a robust logistic distribution network. This includes more than 2,500 trucks, 2,800 km of oil pipelines, and 1,800 km of refined products pipelines. Additionally, YPF operates over 1,600 gas stations throughout Argentina.

Recently, YPF consolidated itself as the largest producer of shale oil in Vaca Muerta and the country’s top oil exporter. In 2024, YPF's shale production averaged 122,000 barrels per day, a 26% increase from the previous year, with production reaching 138,000 barrels per day in the last months of 2024. The company’s oil exports, mainly to Chile, averaged 35,000 barrels per day in 2024, a remarkable 174% increase compared to the previous year.

YPF Hackathon

YPF, like many other companies in the energy sector, faces ongoing challenges. For that reason, it is now opening a virtual challenge with the following three assignments:

  • How can we manage waste treatment in industrial facilities more efficiently?
  • How can we build and maintain loyalty among our B2B customers in a highly competitive market?
  • How can we automate and predict the cleaning and maintenance requirements of crude oil tanks and other industrial products to improve overall efficiency?
