ATCC President-Elect Gabriela Aguilar Moderates LNG Panel at ARPEL 2026The Argentina-Texas Chamber of Commerce is proud to highlight the participation of Gabriela Aguilar, President-Elect of ATCC, at the 8th ARPEL Conference, one of the region's premier gatherings for the oil, gas, and energy industries. Held in Buenos Aires from June 1–4, the conference brought together leading executives, policymakers, and experts to discuss the opportunities and challenges shaping Latin America's energy future. As part of the program, Gabriela moderated the panel “Opportunities for the Expansion of LNG and NGL Use and Exports in the Region”, featuring senior representatives from the International Gas Union (IGU), YPF, Promigas, TGS, Rystad Energy, and Argus Media. The discussion explored the growing role of natural gas and LNG in strengthening regional energy security, advancing integration across markets, and supporting Latin America's position in global energy trade. A key takeaway from the conversation was the dual reality facing the region today. While Argentina—driven by the development of Vaca Muerta—has emerged as one of the most promising LNG export opportunities globally, several countries across the region continue to face increasing concerns regarding security of supply. Panelists agreed that the opportunity is significant, but that capturing it will require more than resource availability alone. The discussion underscored the importance of creating the conditions necessary to transform reserves into production and exports. Access to financing, long-term commercial agreements, infrastructure development, and regulatory stability were highlighted as essential factors for attracting investment and advancing projects toward final investment decisions. Speakers also reflected on lessons from across the region, noting that energy-rich countries can become net importers when development is hindered by policy uncertainty or insufficient investment frameworks. Beyond LNG, the panel addressed the growing strategic importance of natural gas liquids (NGLs) and their role in improving project economics and supporting large-scale resource development. Participants also examined how geopolitical developments and evolving global market dynamics are increasingly influencing pricing, trade flows, and investment strategies. Gabriela's leadership in moderating this timely discussion reflects ATCC's ongoing commitment to fostering dialogue among industry leaders, investors, and policymakers while promoting stronger energy cooperation between Argentina, Texas, and the broader Americas. As interest in Latin America's energy potential continues to grow, forums such as ARPEL provide an important platform to advance the conversations that will shape the sector's future. |
