Speaker Bio:

Dr. Sergio Kapusta is Professor of the School of Engineering at Rice University, and Director of the Rice Energy and Natural Resources Initiative. Sergio Kapusta rejoined the Rice University Faculty after retiring from Royal Dutch Shell as Chief Scientist, in 2015. Sergio has more than 30 years of experience in the energy business, both at Shell and at Rice. He led Shell’s research organization in evaluating alternative energy sources, such as solar, wind, biomass, and biofuels in addition to conventional fossil fuels.

Sergio graduated from Rice University with a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering in 1979 and an MBA in 2006. He also attended the Wharton School Leadership Program and the U. of Pennsylvania.
