How to get to know the American education system, and take advantage of it, to get accepted into the University in the desired Career.
LUIS ALFONSO:
Luis is a PhD student in Aeronautics and Astronautics at Stanford University. He received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and Aerospace Engineering from California Institute of Technology (Caltech) with a GPA of 4.0/4.0 and ranked 1st out of 32 in his major.
He has extensive research experience in aerospace robotics and control, having worked as a research fellow at the Aerospace Robotics and Control Lab (ARCL) and the Burdick Research Group at Caltech. His work has involved developing robust machine learning control methods, modeling inverse Newton-Euler dynamics, and implementing inverse kinematics. He also has experience in earth-analog testing and designing autonomous hybrid flying/driving platforms.
Luis has also worked as a Robotics System Engineering Intern at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory and a Research and Development Intern at Honeywell Aerospace, Advanced Technology Group. He has published two papers and has been awarded the Best Paper in both the 2022 AIAA International Student Conference and the 2021 AIAA Region VI Student Conference (team category).
Finally, Luis is the founder and chair of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) Student Branch at Caltech, leading teams that won $180,000 in both the NASA Big Idea Challenge 2021 and 2022.
